Tiana Schmidts is a visual artist and cultural researcher based in Bucharest, Romania. With early artistic training and academic studies in International Arts and Culture (IBACS), her practice spans drawing, painting, and mixed media, exploring the relationship between memory, perception, and visual experience. Her work is shaped by an ongoing engagement with art history, alongside an interest in how images carry aesthetic, cultural, and emotional resonance.
Drawing from personal observation, sensory impressions, and collected references, Schmidts works with botanical forms, animal and anatomical structures, as well as fragments of lived environments such as walls, frescoes, and interior surfaces. Through processes of layering, recomposition, and intuitive development, these elements are displaced from their original contexts and reconfigured into compositions that move between the organic, the constructed, and the remembered.
